What we are doing

Our Story

The most meaningful legacies do not simply remain. They are preserved through action, living on in the lives of others.

The Oba Abayomi Alabi & Olori Dorcas Fagbohun Descendants Foundation was born out of a desire to preserve the legacy of Oba Tajudeen Abayomi Alabi Fagbohun Ogedengbe III, Gbadewolu I, and Olori Abisola Dorcas Fagbohun. It was founded by their three surviving children: Princess Morenikeji Okwuonu, Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun, SAN, and Dr. Omolola Adunni Akande.

Among the greatest values the Oba and Olori passed to their children was a deep belief in the power of education and in giving others the opportunity to learn. That belief lives on through this Foundation.

Their Legacy

Two Lives, One Shared Purpose
Both served as teachers, dedicating their lives to the impartation of knowledge. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Princess Keji, Prince Lanre, Princess Olufunke, Princess Jumoke and Princess Lola.

Teacher. Headmaster. Statesman. King.

Oba Tajudeen Abayomi Alabi Fagbohun Ogedengbe III, Gbadewolu I

He began teaching at 19 and gave 35 years to the teaching service. An outstanding headmaster, democratic politician, elder statesman and traditional ruler, he believed the best is what every human being deserves, regardless of age or class. After years serving Akesan as Baale, he was crowned the first Alakesan of Akesan land on April 13, 2017, when the town became a kingdom. His brief reign left an impact beyond his lifetime.

Teacher. Public Servant. Mother to All.

Olori Abisola Dorcas Fagbohun

She taught in schools across Ogun and Lagos States, giving her pupils knowledge along with a mother’s warmth and care. She later rose to Chief Executive Officer in the Lagos State Local Government Service, serving until her passing in March 2003. She was a mother to all, extending love, kindness and counsel far beyond her own children.

“To him, the best is what every human being deserves, no matter the age or class of such a person.”

What We Do

Empowering minds, creating brighter futures, supporting individuals and communities facing different circumstances, and creating opportunities where they are most needed, while honouring the legacy of Oba Tajudeen Abayomi Alabi Fagbohun and Olori Abisola Dorcas Fagbohun.

To make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities by promoting access to education, providing scholarships and educational support, assisting widows, and responding to genuine needs where support is most needed.

Education remains at the heart of everything we do. The Oba and Olori spent their lives in the classroom, and we believe, as they did, that learning has the power to transform a life. But our work also reaches beyond the classroom, to people and communities facing different circumstances.

Scholarships

Talent should never be limited by circumstance. Our scholarships help deserving students pursue their education with fewer barriers, giving them the opportunity to learn, grow and build a future of their own. Each award continues the Oba’s belief that every person deserves the best, regardless of age or background.

Educational Support

Sometimes what stands between a student and success is a textbook, a uniform or a school fee. Beyond full scholarships, we provide practical support that helps learners stay in school and do well, and we work to strengthen the environments where learning happens.

Support for Widows

Olori Fagbohun was a mother to all, extending care far beyond her own home. In that same spirit, we stand with widows, offering practical assistance that helps them meet their needs and care for their families with dignity.

Community Support

Needs differ from place to place and from season to season. We respond to genuine needs in individuals and communities, including Akesan, where the Oba served his people, providing support where it can make a real and lasting difference.
